Tom and Cindy

In 1986, Tom and Cindy Hollander began their business from their home making handcrafted boxes and desk accessories, a craft learned from Tom's mother,  Annette Hollander.  In 1991 they opened a small retail store in the Kerrytown Shops in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Today, their store and school occupies two floors and over 9,000 square feet.

About the Store

Hollander’s has grown to become nationally recognized as a leading source for unique decorative papers.  They are possibly the largest retail source of decorative papers in the country, if not the world, with over 1,500 different papers in stock. In addition, Hollander's is a major source of bookbinding tools and supplies, including a large selection of book cloths, leathers, glues, binder's board, and many hard to find tools and materials.  Hollander's also carries a large selection of books and kits to help with everything from basic bookbinding to a wide variety of book and paper arts.

Hollander’s is also a large stationery store with a wide variety of stationery and gift items, including many lines of note cards, photo albums, journals, address books, puzzles, games, books, and much more. If you need invitations, Hollander’s also offers letterpress printing, and allows you to do your own printing on a old style printing press.

About the SchoolSchool sign

Hollander's has established a year-round program of workshops at their School of Book and Paper Arts. Located directly below the retail store, the downstairs space houses Tom and Cindy’s own work studio, as well as a large space for workshops.

The workshop space includes a variety of traditional bookbinding and printmaking equipment, as well as the Kerrytown Press, a letterpress printing studio.

Regularly taught workshops include those in the book arts, bookbinding, box making, printmaking, papermaking, marbling, calligraphy, printmaking, and many others. See our current workshop schedule for a complete listing of workshops.
