Since 1991, Hollander's has been nationally recognized as specialists in decorative papers and bookbinding supplies. Their store, located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, stocks over 2,000 unique decorative papers, as well as many traditional artist papers. Most of the papers are imported from around the world and include large collections of Italian prints, Japanese motifs, and hand marbled papers.
Hollander's bookbinding supplies are geared towards all levels, but the focus is on beginner and intermediate levels. In addition to carrying various leathers and bookcloth, Hollander's offers a wide range of adhesives, bookbinding tools, and book repair supplies. They also sell several types of book board and offer a unique service of custom board cutting.
Hollander's is owned and run by Tom and Cindy Hollander. Prior to opening their store in 1991, they spent many years creating a small craft business of making and selling decorative boxes, books, and desk accessories. From 1993 through 2013, they operated Hollander's School of Book & Paper Arts. The school taught bookbinding, book arts and unique paper arts classes to thousands of students.
Tom and Cindy wrote a popular box making book, Constructing and Covering Boxes in 2009 and are currently working on a second book which focuses more on on learning traditional bookbinding techniques.
