Drum Leaf Binding with Eric Alstrom. This contemporary binding was designed as a means to display artwork in a book format. The drum leaf binding does not require sewn signatures, so there is no thread to interfere with images or text that run across-the-fold. Each folio is attached to the next along the turn-ins. Known as drumming, this process assures that there is minimal gluing to prevent the pages from buckling. A thin and elegant leather spine and decorative paper give this structure a traditional book-like appearance. This is one of our most popular structures for artists.
