Hollander’s workshops are offered year round with something for everyone. View our current Workshop Schedule which features 60 workshops this term. In addition, our partnership with the American Academy of Bookbinding allows us to offer several professional level workshops at our school each term.

Daniel Essig

Daniel's unique sculptural and mixed-media books incorporate unusual woods, handmade paper,found objects, and fossils. Look for Daniel's workshop, Back to Back Book, this term at Hollander's.

American Academy
of Bookbinding

Hollander's, as partners with the American Academy of Bookbinding, offers professional level workshops in fine binding and book and paper conservation. Students are given 24 hour access to the workshop space.

Chiyogami Designs

Chiyogami are known for their repeating graphic designs. Originally printed by woodblock, today they are silkscreened.

Featured Workshop Instructor: Lynne Avadenka

Lynn is a professional calligrapher and an instructor of Book Arts and Typography, having taught at Wayne State University and the University of Michigan. She is proprietor of Land Marks Press, which has produced limited edition books and broadsides, many with Jewish themes. She has curated several exhibitions in Michigan, and has received an NEA and a Creative Artist Grant from the Michigan Council for the Arts. Lynn is teaching a class at Hollander's this term called the Power of the Poster.
