Randy Asplund
Randy is a part-time lecturer and full-time manuscript calligrapher, illuminator & illustrator with over 20 years of experience. He is an internationally renowned consultant on medieval manuscript production and is currently deep in the writing and illustration of a book about how medieval books were made. He as a BFA with honors from the University of Michigan, and illustration credits for companies such as Baen Books, Hasbro, Dell Magazines, TSR, and WOTC, to name a few.
Lynn Avadenka Lynne founded Land Marks Press in 1981, which produces limited edition books for writers and poets, and was a recent recipient of a book arts grants from the NEA to study abroad. She has taught for many years including workshops at the Center for the Book Arts in NYC, the Penland School, and the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Jean Buescher Bartlett
Jean received her MFA in Book Arts from the University of Alabama in 1989. In her studio and bindery in Ann Arbor's Old West Side she produces limited edition, letterpress printed, illustrated books. Jean also teaches at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit as well as at the Penland School in North Carolina. Galen Berry
Galen is a full-time, professional marbler and has taught workshops for over 18 years all around the country. He does work for many of the country's top bookbinders and has sold his papers in stores and shops nationwide, including at Hollander's The Smithsonian and Library of Congress have commissioned his marbled papers. Nicknamed the Medieval Marbler, he estimates hes has taught over 3,500 students in 23 states.
Barbara Brown
Barbara is a local artist and teacher. She has studied fine binding and the book arts for over 15 years, including studies at the American Academy of Bookbinding in Telluride. She is active in the arts community and currently exhibits her works at the Washington Street Gallery in Ann Arbor where she is currently curating a book arts exhibit.
Darcy Bowden
Darcy has a MFA in studio art/textiles. She is an accomplished printmaker and her work is exhibited nationally. She has taught high school art at Ann Arbor Huron High School for over 25 years.

Judith Cattran

Jim Craven
Jim is a master bookbinder, document restoration specialist, and head conservator at the University of Michigan's Bentley Historical Library. Jim has been doing bookbinding at the U of M since 1949.
Harvest Crittenden
Harvest has been a lettering artist and calligraphy instructor for over 25 years. She has been a past president of the Michigan Association of Calligraphers and owns her own lettering arts business, Acorn Arts in Howell, Michigan.
Phil DriscollPhil has been a letterpress printer for 35 years. In his business, he casts type and has the largest collection of type casting molds in the country with over 3,000 sets molds for making printing type. Phil is an active member in the Michigan Letterpress Guild.
Vicki EnglingVicki has a BFA in photography from Sienna Heights. She spent two years traveling the country teaching book making on Arttrain USA. She has taught classes at Hollander's, mostly to young adults and is a former manager at Hollander's.

Don Etherington
Don is the founder of the Etherington Conservation Center in North Carolina. His fine bindings have won international acclaim, and with 55 years of experience, he is uniquely qualified as an extraordinary bookbinder, conservator, and teacher. He has been involved with the restoration of the Magna Carta, Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence. Diane Stum Fekete
Diane is a lettering artist and instructor and was a founding board member and past president of the International Association for the Calligraphic Arts. She has taught calligraphy at Hollander’s since 1995.
Gillian Ferrington
Gillian is a teacher at Emerson Elementary School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She is inspired by her collection of birds and her appreciation of gardens and insects. She demonstrates goykatu (fish printing) to kids of all ages every year at the Kerrytown BookFest.
Ann FlowersAnn has worked at the University of Michigan's Bentley Historical Library for over 25 years. He current position is Associate Archivist and is a book conservation and preservation specialist.
Norm Harris
Norm is a bookbinder and book repair specialist at the Preservation Division of the University of Michigan Library. He has been there for the past 10 years and prior to that worked at the Bessenberg Bindery in Ann Arbor. Norm teaches in-house library book repair workshops at U of M.
Tom & Cindy Hollander
Tom and Cindy are the owners of Hollander’s, opening their store in Kerrytown in 1991. Along with running their store, they have taught many workshops in their specialties of box making, bookbinding, and making a wide variety of desk accessories.
Karen HolokaKaren has a BFA in printmaking from the University of Michigan, along with a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Printmaking where she studied in Florence, Italy. As an intern she has also been a curator and has done some publishing. She is currently employed at Hollander's.
Jim Horton
Jim is a printmaker, wood engraver, and long-time art teacher. His wood engravings have won many awards and he is an expert at historical letterpress equipment and printing.
Karen IzenbergKaren has a BA in Art History and MFA in Painting & Textile Art. Most recently her focus has been on collage arts. She has also owned an art studio/gallery in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Renée Jarmolowicz
Renee has been teaching art teacher and educator for over 25 years. She is accomplished at the lettering and book arts, as well as drawing and mixed-media art forms. Her award winning work can be found in many national and international exhibits as well as private collections. Monique LallierMonique is internationally recognized as a major award-winning design bookbinder and book artist. John Mackrell
John is a long time student of book conservation and fine binding and currently assists Don Etherington when he teaching American Academy of Bookbinding conservation workshops at Hollander's.
Cynthia MayCynthia is a mixed media specialist and has been an art educator for over 15 years. She is an active member in the International Society of Altered Book Artists. Cynthia is also an avid weaver and fiber artist and often merges the crafts with her bookmaking.
Chela Metzger
Chela is a librarian, bookbinder and book conservator currently teaching full-time at the University of Texas. Her work in Latin America has fostered a strong interest in Spanish and Islamic-influenced bindings. She has taught workshops at the Paper and Book Intensive as well as at other schools around the country.
Samantha MisiakSamantha is a long time Ann Arbor resident and former owner of “Lady of the Lamp” which specialized in one-of-a-kind lamps and lampshades. She continues to offer custom design lamps and lampshades to her customers.
Julia MillerJulia has an MA in Historical Archives and is the past senior conservator at the University of Michigan Conservation & Book Repair Lab. As an active book artist, she is heavily influenced by the structural and decorative elements she finds as she studies historical bindings. She continues to work in private practice and recently has taught at the Paper and Book Intensive.
Susan MillsSusan is a bookbinder who has had her own boindery since 1990. She teaches traditional bookbinding workshops, many with an histroical slant. She teaches at the Center for the Book in NYC and the Nova Scotia School of Art and Design. Her works are found in many libraries and institutions throughout the United States and Canada.

Benjamin Reynaert
Ben graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design. He recently interned for the Center for Book Arts in New York City, and is apprenticing with Bloodroot Press in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He also works full-time on the staff at Hollander’s and is currently the workshop coordinator.
Ann Ridout
Ann is a recently retired bookbinder and book repair specialist at the Preservation Division of the University of Michigan Library. With over 35 years of experience, she has taught countless book repair workshops.
Matt ShlianMatt has a BFA from Alfred University and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. He currently teaches at the University of Michigan and Washtenaw Community College. His focus has been in printmaking and sculpture and his unique paper engineering models are widely exhibited in galleries. Linda SobermanLinda has a MFA in photography. She is a photo based, mixed media specialist and exhibits and teaches nationally and internationally. Linda received the Jewish Women in the Arts Award for lifetime achievement in 2006. Linda also just returned from a month-long artist residency and tour of China, where she was one of 25 invited artists to participate in the First International Printmaking Exhibition and Symposium at the Sanbao Institute of Ceramics.
